Shadow of the Templar

This is kind of what started me thinking about things I like and sharing them with people because I reread this whole series of online novels during the Christmas break and remembered how much I love them. Which is a whoooole lot.

SotT is the story of Simon Drake, an FBI agent, and his mixed up, eccentric, often violent team of FBI agents and how they run around the world catching bad guys. It's also the story of Jeremy Archer, snarky, enigmatic, snooty British art thief, and the relationship that eventually sparks between him and Simon.

These stories are fantastic. Like the best of ensemble cast television, with seriously action-filled plots that always have at least one unexpected twist, and truly killer banter. Like, all the time. Not a lot of stories, in my experience, manage to be exceptionally good at looking at character/relationships and exceptionally good at heists and things blowing up, but SotT manages it and is hella fun too.

I keep trying to figure out which of the four books is my favourite. My heart belongs to "The Morning Star," but I think my head votes for "With a Bullet."
